Hi all,
Here I am posting the TCS test pattern.
It has the following rounds.
1) Written test.
2) Technical round
3) Hr round.
WRITTEN TEST
The first round will have verbal ability, aptitude test and critical reasoning together.
Verbal ability
In verbal ability, usually they give antonyms (opposites) and synonyms (meanings).
You will have to choose a correct option for the words given.
It will be very easy if you go through all the previous years TCS question papers. About 50% of the words come from previous year question papers and the other 50% from GRE Barron’s high frequency words. For those of you who don’t know what is GRE Barron’s, it is a book people use to prepare for GRE. You can buy one and it is worth the cost. It is like a dictionary they have listed the meanings of all the words from A to Z. At the end of each chapter you can find the high frequency words.
Aptitude test
Next section will be your aptitude test. Again 70 to 80% of the questions are repeated from previous years question papers. Also try to work out all the problems in R.S.Agarwal’s quantitative reasoning. If you were not able to work out all the problems just try to work out 3 to 4 questions from each chapter. Then this aptitude test also will be easier.
Critical Reasoning
Next Section is the Critical Reasoning round. Here 3 paragraphs will be given and 12 questions will be asked out of it. The 3rd paragraph is about data interpretation and you can get it from GRE Barron’s or R.S.Agarwal reasoning.
Psychometric test
The above 3 sections will be asked in the first round. If you clear the first round the second round will be psychometric test. This tests our psychology. There will be 150 questions and they would have asked the same question again and again in different ways to test your psychology. You need not prepare for this but you have to be honest to clear this round. Be true to yourself while answering these questions and you will clear this round also.
PERSONAL INTERVIEW
If you clear the psychometric test you will be called for the technical interview which will be conducted on the same day or on the next day. So better prepare for the interview before going for the written test. You need not worry about the interview or get scared, because only 2 persons will be there in the interview panel and they will be very friendly.
They begin with asking Tell me about yourself -- The best way to tell about yourself is to organize things that happened in your life like below.
Organize as below.
About your personal details.
Here mention your name; tell about your family, what your father does or your mother does, tell about your siblings and what they are doing.
About your schooling,
Tell about your school, your marks in 10th, 12th and any extra curricular activities you had participated or won, mention all the achievements you made during your schooling.
About your graduation
Tell about your percentage, the subjects you like (be honest here because you might be asked questions in this), your final year project. Again any achievements you made during your college days.
About your post graduation (if you have any)
Tell everything in the same way as your graduation.
About your hobbies or interests
Finally mention your strengths and weaknesses.
I had mentioned few strengths over here which you can use during your interview
Strengths – self confidence, extrovert, ability to learn new things easily, ability to adapt to new environment quickly, ambitious, ability to handle pressure, willingness to take up challenges, add your other strengths to this list.
Weakness – don’t say that you don’t have any weakness. Try to mention some weakness which will be helpful for their company in some way.
After introducing yourself, they will ask about your final year project. This will be a definite question so go prepared with your final year project.
Then they will ask questions in c, it will be like tell me the output of this program, some questions in pointers, what is wrong in this code kind of questions.
Once this is over, they might ask you some very basic questions from the subjects in your syllabus. Once you clear this technical round you might be asked to go for a managerial round, only in very few places they have this round. I don’t have any idea about this managerial round now but if I get some information on it I will definitely update you.
HR ROUND
The last round will be your HR round. This round is very easy to get through. They will ask general questions like Tell about yourself?”, “Who r your role models?”
“What is your weakness?” kind of questions again.
The two important questions they definitely ask in TCS are why are you willing to join TCS? or Why TCS? When I was asked this question I said “It is my dream company” that’s it they got impressed by the answer. To be on the safer side also prepare for the question “Why it is your dream company” , You can go to TCS website and get some information about the company that impressed you to consider it as your dream company before you attend the interview or if you have a known person working in TCS already then you are lucky you can say your friend or brother or someone who is working in TCS always tells about it and so you got impressed and it became your dream company like that. The next question they ask is Are you ready to relocate anywhere in India or the world. ? Even if you are not willing say “YES”.
If TCS is your dream company, then keep in mind
1. GRE BARRON’S 12TH edition or their next editions
2. R.S AGARWAL
3. The previous years TCS question papers
4. And good C knowledge
are your saviours.
The TCS pattern is a very popular one and most of you might have known it already but the purpose of me presenting it again is to make everyone who are visiting my page aware of it.
Note: If you want any referral id in TCS or Cognizant or any other software company just post a comment I will get you one. Also for the previous years TCS question papers you can get it from internet or post a comment for that also I will send it.
